Mount Kenya University (MKU), a leading chartered university committed to holistic education and human resource development, is seeking qualified individuals to join its faculty as Part-time Tutors specializing in Human Resource Management. The successful candidates will be responsible for instructional delivery, student assessment, and contributing to the university's academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons for assigned units in accordance with the course outline and curriculum.
Learning Support: Develop learning materials and individual learning plans to meet student needs.
Assessment and Marking: Examine and mark Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) and end-of-term assessments. Timely upload marks into the Management Information System (MIS).
Practical Training: Conduct practical instructions for trainees and maintain detailed portfolios of evidence.
Student Monitoring: Monitor and record student progress, achievement, and attendance.
Curriculum Development: Participate in the course review process and contribute to the development of high-quality curricula.
Supervision: Supervise students during assessments and examinations.
Administrative Support: Maintain professional records, participate in departmental meetings, and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for Appointment
To qualify for this role, candidates must possess:
An earned Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a relevant area from a recognized/accredited university.
At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a similar institution.
Registration as a Trainer by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
Registration by a relevant professional body (where applicable).
Completion of pedagogy training.
Relevant industry work experience is considered an added advantage.
Requirements for Short Courses (Language Programs)
Candidates seeking to teach language-based short courses must have:
An earned B2 Proficiency Level certificate or degree in the relevant language:
German: Goethe-Zertifikat
Italian: CELI (Certificato di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana)
French: DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française)
English/Kiswahili: Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics
At least two (2) years of teaching experience in a similar institution, preferably up to B2 level.
Experience with CEFR-aligned curricula and communicative teaching methodologies.
