Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, holistic, and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking qualified Part-time Tutors for the Fashion and Design department. The successful candidates will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality units, preparing learning materials, and managing student assessments.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n- Plan, prepare, and teach the units assigned as outlined in the course curriculum.\n- Develop learning materials and timely submit professional records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.\n- Plan, develop, and deliver appropriate learning plans for individual students.\n- Assess students' work and monitor their achievement levels.\n- Take part in the course review process and adapt delivery patterns to meet student needs.\n- Examine and mark Trainees’ Assessment Tests (CATs and end-of-term assessments) and upload marks in the MIS timely.\n- Carry out practical instructions for trainees and maintain their portfolios of evidence.\n- Supervise students during assessments.\n- Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.\n- Participate in departmental meetings and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.\n\n### Qualifications and Requirements\n- An earned Bachelor’s degree qualification in the relevant area from a recognized/accredited university.\n- At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a similar institution.\n- Registration as a Trainer by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).\n- Relevant work experience in the industry will be an added advantage.\n- Registration by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable).\n- Completion of pedagogy training.\n\n### Short Course Tutor Requirements (Languages)\nTo qualify for teaching short courses in languages, candidates must have:\n- An earned B2 Proficiency Level certificate or degree in the relevant language (e.g., Goethe-Zertifikat for German, CELI for Italian, DELF for French, or Bachelor’s in Linguistics for English/Kiswahili).\n- At least two (2) years of teaching experience in a similar institution.\n- Experience with CEFR-aligned curricula and communicative teaching methodologies.
