Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. It has an overall goal of promoting human resource development for society’s progressive good. The university is currently seeking qualified Part-time Tutors for Community Health to join its academic team. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering quality instruction and contributing to the development of the curriculum.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n- Plan, prepare, and teach the units assigned, as outlined in the course outline in line with the course curriculum.\n- Development of learning materials, timely preparation and submission of professional records, and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.\n- Plan, develop, and deliver appropriate learning plans for individual students.\n- Assess students' work and monitor their achievement.\n- Take part in the course review process and adapt delivery patterns to meet student needs.\n- Examine and mark Trainees’ Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts and end-of-term assessments) and timely upload marks in the MIS of the units assigned.\n- Carry out practical instructions for trainees and maintain their portfolios of evidence.\n- Supervise students during assessments.\n- Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.\n- Participate in departmental meetings.\n- Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.\n\n### Qualifications and Experience\n- An earned Bachelor’s degree qualification in the relevant area from a recognized/accredited university.\n- At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a similar institution.\n- Be registered as a Trainer by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).\n- Relevant work experience in the industry will be an added advantage.\n- Be registered by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable).\n- Have completed pedagogy training.\n\n### Requirements for Short Courses (General Tutors)\n- An earned B2 Proficiency Level certificate or degree in the relevant language (German: Goethe-Zertifikat, Italian: CELI, French: DELF, English: Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Kiswahili: Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics).\n- Have at least two (2) years of teaching experience in a similar institution, preferably teaching up to B2 level.\n- Experience with CEFR-aligned curricula and communicative teaching methodologies.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online via the Mount Kenya University recruitment portal at https://recruitment.mku.ac.ke.
