Mount Kenya University (MKU), a fully fledged chartered university dedicated to holistic and inclusive education, is seeking to recruit qualified Part-time Tutors for its Banking and Finance programs. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing learning materials, and managing student assessments to ensure progressive academic growth.
Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Plan, prepare, and teach assigned units in accordance with the course outlines and university curriculum.
Learning Support: Develop appropriate learning materials and deliver tailored learning plans to meet individual student needs.
Assessment and Grading: Examine and mark Trainees’ Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts and end-of-term assessments), providing timely feedback and uploading marks into the Management Information System (MIS).
Records Management: Maintain accurate professional records, including student progress, achievement, and attendance logs.
Practical Training: Conduct practical instructions and maintain students' portfolios of evidence.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of high-quality curricula and participate in departmental meetings.
Supervision: Supervise students during assessments and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
For Banking and Finance Units:
An earned Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance or a relevant field from a recognized/accredited university.
At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a similar institution.
Registration as a Trainer by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
Registration by a relevant Professional Body (where applicable).
Completion of pedagogy training.
Relevant work experience in the industry is an added advantage.
For Short Courses (Languages):
An earned B2 Proficiency Level certificate or degree in the relevant language:
German: Goethe-Zertifikat
Italian: CELI
French: DELF
English/Kiswahili: Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics
At least two (2) years of teaching experience in a similar institution, preferably up to B2 level.
Familiarity with CEFR-aligned curricula and communicative teaching methodologies.
