Mount Kenya University is seeking qualified Part-Time Trainers in ECDIS, ARPA, and RADAR to join their faculty. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical maritime instruction, conducting simulator-based training, and ensuring students achieve the operational competencies required under national and international maritime standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruction & Training: Teach theoretical and practical aspects of ECDIS, ARPA, and RADAR systems. Conduct simulator-based training sessions and real-time scenario exercises.
- Curriculum & Materials: Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with IMO STCW and Model Courses. Develop and update training modules to reflect current technologies and regulatory changes.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate student performance, guide them through certification requirements, and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Integration & Safety: Support students in understanding the integration of electronic navigation systems with bridge operations, emphasizing safety, situational awareness, and decision-making skills.
- Compliance: Ensure training programs meet national and international maritime education standards. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
- Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate with other trainers and technical staff to maintain and upgrade simulator equipment.
- Professional Development: Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and ongoing professional development activities.
