Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking a qualified and motivated Full-Time German Language Trainer to join the team in Eldoret.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Lesson Planning: Plan, prepare, and teach the assigned language units in line with the course curriculum.
Learning Materials Development: Develop learning materials, design personalized learning plans for individual students, and maintain records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.
Student Assessment: Assess student work, monitor achievements, and grade Trainees' Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts) and end-of-term assessments. Timely upload marks into the university's MIS.
Curriculum & Practical Instructions: Carry out practical instructions for trainees, supervise students during assessments, and contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
Departmental Collaboration: Participate in departmental meetings and course review processes to adapt delivery patterns to meet student needs.
Other Duties: Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: BA/BSc/HND qualification from a recognized institution.
Language Certification: Possession of a valid Goethe Institute certification, with at least a B2 level proficiency in German.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in teaching the German language.
Skills: Strong communication, intercultural, and instructional design skills.
