Part Time Lecturer - Structural Design (Steel and Timber)

The Open University of Kenya (OUK) is dedicated to addressing capacity limitations in traditional universities by utilizing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education. By leveraging technology and flexible learning modes, OUK aims to accommodate a larger number of qualified students, enabling wider access to higher education.

This Part-Time Lecturer position requires specialization in teaching Structural Design, specifically relating to Steel and Timber structures. Successful candidates will be crucial in facilitating flexible learning for students in a digital environment.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

For appointment to this grade, candidates MUST meet the following criteria:

Academic Requirements (Option A):

• An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited University.

OR

Academic Requirements (Option B - Special Cases):

• A Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited University, AND
• At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level, AND
• Must be registered in good standing for a PhD in the relevant field.

General Competencies:

• Be computer literate with the ability to handle digital content (mandatory for all posts).
• Demonstrated ability to support students online (mandatory for part-time lecturers).
