Role Overview
The Part-Time Lecturer in Medical Microbiology will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction to students, contributing to the academic development of the department, and ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the healthcare and research industries. This role involves teaching at various levels based on qualifications and experience.
Requirements for Appointment
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Qualifications:
A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Microbiology or a relevant field from a recognized University;
OR A Master’s degree in Medical Microbiology or a relevant field with at least two (2) years of University teaching or Industry experience.
Professional Requirements:
Evidence of teaching experience at the University level and/or relevant industry experience.
Registration with relevant professional bodies where applicable.
Evidence of research and publications in refereed journals will be an added advantage (essential for postgraduate teaching).
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver lectures and practical demonstrations in Medical Microbiology.
Facilitate student learning through innovative teaching methods and hands-on skill development.
Conduct assessments, including setting and marking examinations and assignments.
Provide mentorship and academic guidance to students.
Participate in research activities and academic publishing (where applicable).
Support the university’s mission of producing holistic and ethical graduates.
