Job Description
The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to the Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. KEMRI is the national body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.
KEMRI is seeking two highly motivated trainees for the position of Office & Research Administration Assistant. This role is aimed at providing operational, administrative, and logistical support to ensure the efficient management of research programs and team operations.
Key Responsibilities
Coordination of activities that facilitate the efficient management of the program, the team, and its operations.
Typing, compiling, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence.
Providing administrative and logistical support for meetings and events, including stakeholder meetings, advocacy events, and regional trainings/workshops.
Supporting the study with key project activities, including following up on IRB approvals (e.g., Pharmacy and Poisons Board - PPB).
Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records.
Drafting correspondence such as emails and letters.
Taking accurate and comprehensive notes (minutes) during meetings.
Supporting the preparation of presentations.
Vacancy Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or Finance and Administration (Mandatory).
Strong analytical ability, planning, and organizational skills (Mandatory).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Mandatory).
Ability to work with multi-skilled teams (Mandatory).
High level of organizational and time management skills to organize own work, establish priorities, and meet deadlines (Mandatory).
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask (Mandatory).
Demonstrated interest in Research, Bioethics, training, and capacity building (Mandatory).
