About the Role
You are responsible for planning and providing medical and nursing care to patients in the school clinic in line with the mission, vision, and strategic objectives of the organization as well as best practices in healthcare. The role involves managing integrated childhood illnesses, ensuring a positive client experience, and maintaining professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide appropriate healthcare services, including the integrated management of childhood illnesses (IMCI).
Ensure an outstanding client experience through effective triage, nursing care planning, implementation of interventions, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
Deliver immunization and applicable reproductive health services.
Offer health education and counseling to patients and the community based on identified needs.
Maintain and observe clinic policies, standards, and procedures of nursing care.
Uphold infection control measures for the well-being of staff and patients.
Exercise fiscal prudence by utilizing resources efficiently, using equipment correctly, and ensuring prompt billing where applicable.
Comply with statutory regulations as required by the nursing profession and the laws of Kenya.
Safeguard all confidential hospital/patient information and property.
Participate in hospital activities, research, audits, and medical camps or outreaches.
Coordinate with management, sponsors, and donors to ensure seamless execution of medical campaigns.
Network with like-minded organizations to enrich project programs and the community.
Attend relevant meetings and workshops on behalf of the clinic and community.
Adhere to basic staff norms as per Ministry of Health Standards and Social Health Insurance Regulations, 2024.
Implement established referral modes and prepare/submit reports to management and government departments.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Spiritual: Must be a mature born-again Christian with a supporting verifiable testimony.
Experience: At least 1 year of relevant all-round work experience in a recognized medical or child welfare institution. Experience in a school setting is a distinct advantage.
Licensing: Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) with a valid Nursing Practice License.
Legal: Must have a Certificate of Good Conduct from a relevant government authority.
Knowledge: Conversant with the public children’s code, regulations, rights, and government policy on medical operations in Kenya.
Skills: Excellent communication (English and Kiswahili), problem-solving, conflict resolution, and crisis management skills.
Competencies: Flexible, self-motivated, hardworking, and a team player with a high level of computer proficiency (MS Office, Internet, Email).
Additional Assets: Training in HIV/AIDS care and counseling, and proficiency in the local language/understanding of local social dynamics are added advantages.
