Job Description
The National Volunteer – Peacebuilding & DRR Advisor is responsible for supporting the implementation of conflict-sensitive peacebuilding and disaster risk reduction (DRR) interventions under the RECAP project. The role focuses on strengthening community-based peace mechanisms, enhancing preparedness for climate- and disaster-related shocks, and promoting peaceful coexistence and resilience in cross-border communities, specifically around Moyale and Sololo sub-counties, Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
Support the implementation of conflict-sensitive peacebuilding and disaster risk reduction interventions under the RECAP project.
Strengthen community-based peace mechanisms to ensure local and regional stability.
Enhance community preparedness for climate-related and disaster-related shocks.
Promote peaceful coexistence and build resilience in cross-border communities around Moyale and Sololo sub-counties.
Facilitate positive change and build sustainable working relationships with local stakeholders.
Seek and share knowledge to improve project outcomes and community impact.

Requirements
A minimum of a BA/BSc/HND in a relevant field of study.
Interest in or knowledge of conflict-sensitive peacebuilding and disaster risk reduction.
Ability to work effectively in cross-border community settings (specifically Moyale and Sololo).
Commitment to VSO’s core values and volunteer-based development models.
