The Aga Khan Academy Nairobi, operated by the Aga Khan Education Service Kenya (AKESK), is seeking a dedicated Music Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and implementing lesson plans for students throughout the school calendar year, engaging with learners to foster an interactive learning environment, and executing creative teaching strategies to advance students' musical talents. This role requires an educator who is passionate about music and committed to the development of student skills through both theoretical and practical instruction.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Teach music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques, preparing learners for both internal and external examinations.
Lesson Planning: Plan and prepare lessons tailored to individual students' needs and examination syllabuses.
Assessment: Assess learners’ abilities, provide constructive feedback, and maintain progress reports.
Curriculum Mastery: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of examination requirements, teaching techniques, and technology used in music education. Adapt the curriculum to accommodate students with varying intellectual abilities.
School Community Engagement: Cooperate with the Head of School and staff to provide musical programs for assemblies, open houses, parent meetings, graduations, and seasonal programs.
Co-curricular Activities: Actively contribute to the broader school community through co-curricular programs and train students for music events.
Regulatory Compliance: Implement the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) standards effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Music, or a BA/BSc with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (P.G.D.E.).
Experience: At least 2 years of teaching experience in a similar role.
Professional Registration: Must be an active member registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Technical Skills: Conversant with the new Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and proficient in MS Office computer applications.
