The Music Teacher will be responsible for preparing and implementing lesson plans for students throughout the school calendar year. The role involves engaging with learners to foster an interactive learning environment and executing creative teaching strategies to advance the musical talents of the students.
Key Responsibilities
Teach music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques while preparing learners for examinations.
Plan and prepare lessons in relation to individual students' needs and examination syllabuses.
Assess learners’ abilities, providing consistent feedback and writing detailed reports.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements.
Keep abreast of teaching techniques and technology used in music lessons.
Cooperate with the Head of School and staff to provide musical programs for school assemblies, open houses, parent meetings, graduations, and seasonal programs.
Adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities and accommodate diverse instructional needs.
Teach knowledge and skills in the music curriculum using courses of study prescribed by the approved curriculum.
Develop programs that meet the needs, abilities, and interests of learners using a range of instructional techniques and media.
Actively contribute to the broader school community through co-curricular programs.
Provide training for both internal and external music events.
Implement and remain conversant with the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Music, or a BA/BSc with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (P.G.D.E.).
At least 2 years' teaching experience.
Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Must be conversant with the new Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
Working knowledge of MS Office computer applications.
