Job Description
The Mental Health Policy, Accountability and Governance Consultant will support the establishment of the child and adolescent mental health mechanism funded by the Wellcome Trust. Supervised by the MHPSS Evidence and Systems Strengthening specialist in the Mental Health Unit, COE Global Health, the consultant will provide ongoing support on global policy, governance, and other advocacy deliverables. This role is essential to ensure implementation of critical deliverables, including launch and ongoing maintenance of the web platform, country mapping and design of country policy workshops, day-to-day coordination with WHO, development of annual reports, content and case studies, as well as project management and grant reporting duties.
Responsibilities
Support global mental health advocacy deliverables, including the design, implementation, and refinement of an accountability mechanism (jointly led with WHO) set to launch in 2026.
Lead the launch and provide ongoing maintenance of the project's web platform.
Conduct country mapping and design specific country policy workshops.
Manage day-to-day coordination with WHO partners.
Develop annual reports, including content creation and case study documentation.
Oversee project management tasks and grant reporting duties.
Participate in mission travel for select country meetings or capacity-building sessions as required.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public health/global mental health, international development, social sciences, policy, or related field with strong experience in applying legislative, policy, and advocacy work. A Master’s degree in a related field is highly preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum of 7 years’ professional experience (5 years if with a Master's degree) in related MHPSS or development field.
Demonstrated experience in programming, legislation, policy, financing, and advocacy at national and international levels.
Experience in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) is considered an asset.
Essential knowledge of global frameworks and policies, including the MHPSS Operational Framework.
Knowledge and experience managing web platforms, including Drupal, is an asset.
Proven stakeholder engagement and donor relations experience.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
Strong leadership, versatility, judgement, and ability to work effectively under pressure.
Language: English fluency is required; knowledge of other UN Languages is desirable.
