Role Overview
This position helps provide and maintain facilities which give Church members places where they can work, worship, teach, learn, pray together, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances. The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of multiple facilities, ensuring they are prepared and aligned with their intended purposes.
This role involves managing a team of technicians, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with Church standards and regulations. The Facilities Manager will also be accountable for key performance indicators (KPIs) related to timeliness, cost, quality, and self-performance.
Key Responsibilities
People & Operations Management: Manage the work of other employees (may include mixed workforce). Manage and oversee the work of technicians, including scheduling, organizing, and accomplishing work orders. Conduct annual performance reviews, approve expenses, and handle related personnel issues such as onboarding and time-off requests.
Strategic Alignment: Implement strategic objectives provided by leadership and ensure team alignment with organizational goals.
Auditing & Quality Control: Perform property inspection audits and ensure all work is completed to specifications and in compliance with standards.
Emergency Work & KPI Performance: Assist FM group in completing emergency work orders and own accountability for KPI performance metrics of timeliness, cost, quality, and self-performance.
Vendor Management: Identify and recommend potential vendors, manage vendor relationships, and coordinate their work as needed. Make informed recommendations for vendor changes in cases where recurring contract services fail to meet desired outcomes or improvements can be realized.
Budget & Financial Oversight: Oversee the budget and ensure efficient organization and completion of tasks in partnership with Operations Manager, Facility Services Coordinator, and Vendor Management.
Missionary Facilities Support: Coordinate directly with mission presidents to ensure missionary facilities needs are being met. Negotiate apartment leases and renewals, and assign work to vendors as needed.
Meetings & Training: Attend weekly FM group meetings encompassing work order review, prioritization, project scheduling, and related discussions. Organize and collaborate on training within the maintenance team. Support regional and headquarters training initiatives and participate in continuous improvement teams.
Other: Execute any other assigned duties by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
Requires a BS or SA degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture (or local equivalent education) with at least 3 to 5 years of related construction field experience (such as construction management) OR a minimum of 3 years of strong building construction background (owner of firm, project manager, or superintendent).
Requires proven leadership, business, management, and negotiation skills.
Requires the ability to communicate and deal with sensitivity and respect with ecclesiastical leaders, and effectively with real estate representatives, architects, engineers, contractors, city building officials, governmental agencies, neighborhood associations, zoning review boards, etc.
Requires basic estimating, scheduling, and analysis work skills.
Must possess good public relations skills and demonstrated ability to manage people and multiple projects.
Ability to communicate properly with Colleagues, Priesthood Leaders, and Managers.
