Medical Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Implement pre-clinical and clinical research projects and/or supervise assigned components of the work.
• Provide general diagnosis, care, treatment, and specialized clinical services to study participants.
• Develop study-related tools, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
• Train study staff and conduct medical evaluations for participants meeting criteria for Adverse Events of Special Interest (AESI), ensuring timely reporting.
• Conduct medical assessments of children experiencing serious adverse events and ensure prompt reporting in accordance with study protocols.
• Develop a thorough understanding of study design and objectives, ensuring compliance with study protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Provide expert clinical care and consultation for study participants in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Organize and lead Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions and facilitate discussions with clinical and nursing teams.
• Foster collaborative and professional working relationships with non-study staff within health facilities.
• Work closely with the Principal Investigator to address monitoring and audit findings and implement approved recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
• Prior experience in Clinical Research is considered an added advantage.

• Critical thinking skills.
• Must be a strong team player.
