Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of refining, pumping, heating, and packaging systems.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize uptime.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, upgrades, and CAPEX for machinery and production lines.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, manufacturing, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with production, QA, and operations to maintain throughput, quality, and cost targets.
• Manage spare parts, maintenance records, and service documentation.
• Train, mentor, and supervise maintenance staff and junior engineers.
• Drive reliability, continuous improvement, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term mechanical solutions.
• Optimize equipment performance through analytics, KPIs, and mechanical integrity practices.
• Lead cross-functional projects and implement new technologies to enhance efficiency.
• Coordinate with suppliers and contractors and report on maintenance performance and trends.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or eligible for registration.
• 4-6 years' experience in a manufacturing or refinery environment; food processing experience is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in design and maintenance tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Extensive experience in industrial machinery maintenance and reliability systems.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or reliability improvement methodologies.
• Experience with ERP/CMMS (maintenance planning systems).
• This position is open to Kenyan Nationals only.
