Job Description
The Market Merchant Activator role at Q-Sourcing Servtec Group involves driving the acquisition, onboarding, activation, and usage growth of MSME merchants onto a digital payments ecosystem within assigned catchment areas.
Key Responsibilities
Merchant Acquisition & Onboarding
Identify, recruit, and onboard new MSME merchants onto the digital payment’s ecosystem within assigned catchment areas.
Drive rapid onboarding of existing customers who are not yet active on the platform.
Ensure all onboarding documentation (KYC, merchant forms) is accurately completed and submitted in line with client requirements.
Merchant Activation & Usage Growth
Activate onboarded merchants to ensure first transaction within defined timelines.
Drive sustained usage by supporting merchants to process customer payments via the platform.
Conduct follow-ups to reduce merchant dormancy and improve transaction volumes.
Field Engagement & Training
Conduct daily field visits based on approved work plans covering assigned branches as per rollout model.
Train merchants and their staff/agents on the use of the digital payments platform and best practices for collections.
Execute structured customer engagements using approved scripts to drive onboarding, activation, and transaction uptake.
Performance Delivery (Targets & KPIs)
Meet daily and weekly assigned targets on:
Activated merchants (first transaction)
New merchants onboarded
Data Capture, Reporting & Compliance
Capture and submit all required customer KYC, onboarding, and activity data accurately and on time.
Provide daily and weekly performance reports (visits, onboarding, activations, issues).
Escalate customer issues, operational risks, or reputational concerns promptly.
Collect, record, store, and transmit all customer queries in the prescribed manner.
Inform the client’s designated officers of all events that may impact the client’s reputation in a timely manner.
Merchant Retention & Relationship Management
Monitor merchant activity and proactively re-engage inactive/dormant merchants.
Collect feedback from merchants to support continuous improvement of the product and onboarding processes.
Support initiatives aimed at improving retention, churn, and usage rates.
Collateral Management
Collect and manage assigned customer collateral, issuing it to customers as prescribed.
Return any unused collateral to the designated officers in a timely manner.
Compliance & Code of Conduct
Adhere to the client’s code of conduct at all times.
Ensure compliance with KYC, data protection, and brand standards.
Qualification and Experience
Education
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree (business-related preferred but not mandatory).
Experience
Early-career candidates with 1–2 years’ experience.
Experience in sales, field marketing, or agent network exposure is preferred.
Familiarity with local trading environments (markets, MSMEs) within assigned branch locations.
Knowledge & Skills
Basic understanding of digital payments, mobile money, or Paybill systems (preferred but not mandatory).
Strong sales, persuasion, and customer engagement skills.
Ability to conduct structured field visits and manage daily activity plans.
Basic data capture and reporting skills (mobile tools, forms, simple Excel/Apps).
