The Managing Director & CEO is responsible for leading the planning, design, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage electricity transmission grids and regional power interconnectors. The role is responsible to the Board of Directors for strategic direction and the implementation of the Company’s strategic goals, vision, mission, and objectives, as well as the mobilization and management of its resources.
Key Responsibilities
Providing leadership to Senior Management and Staff.
Overseeing planning, designing, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage electricity transmission grids and regional power interconnectors.
Ensuring promotion of national and regional power trade for socio-economic development.
Providing overall leadership and administration of operations of the Company under the guidance of the Board.
Overseeing implementation of all Government Directives, Administrative Circulars, and Executive Orders.
Ensuring compliance in the formulation, development, and implementation of strategic objectives, policies, and plans.
Forging strategic linkages within the business environment with Regulators, Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Development Partners, and other stakeholders.
Overseeing procurement of goods, works, services, inventory management, and disposal of assets in accordance with laws and regulations.
Mobilizing resources to support implementation of the Company’s Strategic Plan through the Exchequer, Development Finance Institutions, Public-Private Partnership (PPP), and alternative sources.
Overseeing implementation of alternative sources of revenue and business opportunities.
Advising the Board of Directors on business opportunities to enhance growth and sustainability.
Establishing and implementing transparent, equitable Human Resource Policies and Organizational Structures with a clear succession plan.
Overseeing corruption prevention strategies and submitting reports to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Ensuring effective management of corporate risks, quality assurance, and establishing proper internal controls.
Promoting a positive corporate image.
Developing and ensuring implementation of the Strategic Plan, Business Strategies, and tariff revenue requirements.
Maintaining knowledge of markets and industry to exploit changing opportunities for business and investment.
Ensuring annual budget, procurement plan, work plan, and performance contracts align with strategic objectives.
Ensuring accurate financial and accounting records complying with relevant laws.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
Master’s degree from a recognized institution.
Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
Membership to a professional body where applicable and in good standing.
A valid practicing certificate/license where applicable.
Certificate in a Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Knowledge/proficiency in office automation applications.
Work Experience
Cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years relevant work experience, with at least five (5) years in a senior management position.
