The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of preventive and predictive maintenance (PPM) schedules for all plant equipment. This role involves creating and managing work orders and maintenance plans within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), specifically SAP PM, to ensure equipment reliability and minimal disruption to production. The successful candidate will analyze maintenance trends, manage technical documentation, and ensure all activities comply with safety and ISO standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Scheduling: Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance (PPM) schedules for all plant equipment.
- Work Order Management: Create and manage work orders, maintenance plans, and job packages in SAP PM.
- Coordination: Liaise with production, mechanical, and electrical teams to schedule maintenance without disrupting production cycles.
- Reliability Engineering: Maintain accurate equipment maintenance history and failure records; suggest corrective actions and maintain records of Root Cause Analysis (RCAs).
- Resource Management: Collaborate with stores and procurement for timely availability of spare parts, tools, and consumables.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards, SOPs, and statutory requirements; maintain IMS ISO standards documentation.
- Documentation: Update technical documentation including machine manuals, drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and specifications.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor maintenance KPIs (MTTR, MTBF, availability, cost) and generate reports; prepare performance review presentations (BRM, BPP).
- Project Support: Support shutdown and turnaround planning; assist in CAPEX project identification, costing, and monitoring.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Registration: Must be registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Experience: A minimum of 8 years of general work experience, with at least 5 years specifically in maintenance planning or a related discipline within the manufacturing industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of Hydraulic and pneumatic systems; ability to interpret machine and schematic drawings.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in SAP ERP (PM Module), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and MS Project.
- Certifications: Internal auditor certification (IMS ISO) is an added advantage.
- Soft Skills: Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
