Role Overview
Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is seeking a qualified Locum Radiographer specializing in Nuclear Medicine. The purpose of this role is to perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures by preparing, administering, and imaging radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring patient safety, accurate results, and adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging, the position holder will:
Review PET/CT and SPECT/CT request forms and ensure proper approval and protocoling by the Nuclear Medicine Physician.
Consult with the Nuclear Medicine Physician on requests and protocols for imaging procedures.
Clerk patients for scans and prepare them for nuclear medicine procedures.
Explain procedures to patients clearly and compassionately to ensure understanding and compliance.
Reconstitute radiopharmaceuticals accurately and safely in accordance with radiation safety standards.
Perform PET, SPECT, and planar imaging examinations while adhering to quality and safety protocols.
Ensure patient safety through pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection techniques, and compliance with radiation safety regulations.
Administer diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, including radioiodine and Lutetium-177, under the supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Physician, in compliance with radiation safety and clinical protocols.
Troubleshoot scanners, couches, and peripheral equipment to maintain operational efficiency.
Process, maintain, and disseminate acquired imaging data to nuclear medicine workstations and tele-reporting systems, ensuring timely transfer for reporting and accurate documentation.
Document and maintain departmental records and stock control of consumables.
Conduct necessary quality control on all equipment as required.
Perform any other duty as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Minimum of a Diploma in Radiography or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Higher Diploma in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Minimum of one (1) year hands-on experience in a Nuclear Medicine Unit.
Hold a valid license from the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority (KENRA).
Proficiency in computer applications, including familiarity with Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
