Job Description
The Library Assistant II will be responsible for providing essential support within the county library system. The role involves managing physical and digital resources, assisting patrons with their information needs, and ensuring the library collection is well-organized and maintained. Key activities include shelf management, cataloging assistance, and the processing of library materials to facilitate easy access for the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Material Maintenance: Preparation of library materials for binding to ensure the longevity of the collection.
Collection Organization: Systematic shelf arrangement to maintain order and accessibility.
Patron Support: Provision of reference services to assist readers in locating specific information and resources.
Record Management: Filing of catalogue cards and press cuttings for record-keeping and information retrieval.
Circulation Management: Charging and discharging library materials (managing the loan and return process).
Requirements for Appointment
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean Grade C or its equivalent qualification with at least a C in either Mathematics, English, or Kiswahili.
A Diploma in Library Studies or Information Science or their recognized equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
