Job Description
Taita Taveta University (TTU), a public University in Kenya and an Academic Centre of Excellence, is seeking to recruit qualified individuals for the positions of Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Philosophy of Education. The roles involve academic instruction, research, and contribution to the university's mission of excellence.
General Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality lectures and instruction to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Conduct original research in the field of Philosophy of Education and publish findings in refereed scholarly journals.
Supervise postgraduate students (Masters and PhD) through their research and thesis writing process to completion.
Participate in the development and review of academic curricula.
Engage in university and departmental administrative duties and committee work.
Provide mentorship and academic advising to students.
Requirements
Lecturer (Grade 12)
Must have an earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field (Philosophy of Education) from an accredited and recognized University.
Must be registered with the relevant professional body, where applicable.
Senior Lecturer (Grade 13)
Must have an earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field (Philosophy of Education) from an accredited and recognized University.
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer, OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
A minimum of four (4) articles in refereed journals OR a minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer (or equivalent), of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
Proven experience in supervising at least three (3) post-graduate students at either Masters or PhD level to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent.
Must be registered with the relevant professional body, where applicable.
Terms of Service
Positions are on Permanent and Pensionable Terms.
Successful candidates will be entitled to applicable allowances as approved by the University Council.
