Lecturer / Senior Lecturer - Biology

Responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Biology and related subject areas.
  • Develop and review academic curricula to ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct original research in field-specific areas and publish findings in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Supervise and mentor postgraduate students (Masters and PhD) through their research projects and completions.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, university committees, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Engage in community outreach and professional development activities.

Requirements and Qualifications

Lecturer (Grade 12)

• An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in Biology or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
• Must be registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).

Senior Lecturer (Grade 13)

• An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in Biology or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
• At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
• Have a minimum of four (4) articles in refereed journals or a minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
• Supervised at least three (3) post-graduate students at either Masters or PhD level to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent.
• Must be registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).

Terms of Service

• The positions are offered on Permanent and Pensionable Terms.
• Successful candidates will be entitled to applicable allowances as approved by the University Council.
