Job Description
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to fill part-time academic positions as Lecturers in Literature. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching, curriculum synthesis, and evaluating students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction: Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate students in the field of Literature.
Material Preparation: Prepare comprehensive learning and teaching materials to facilitate optimal delivery of course content and achieve course objectives.
Lecturing: Deliver curriculum content effectively to students via lectures, ensuring alignment with defined curriculum objectives.
Quality Control: Evaluate course delivery models and make recommendations/improvements to enhance the quality of instruction and learning.
Curriculum Synthesis: Interpret and synthesize the curriculum to maximize context dissemination to learners.
Examination Management: Set, moderate, invigilate, and grade academic examinations.
Curriculum Assessment: Conduct periodic curriculum needs assessments to identify content gaps and ensure graduates are globally competitive.
Requirements & Qualifications
Must hold a PhD or a Master's degree in Literature or a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
Solid teaching or industry experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
Served as a Lecturer or equivalent in a university or recognized institution of higher learning.
Demonstrate clear potential for university-level teaching and/or research.
At least two (2) years of teaching experience in a university.
Candidates with a Master's degree registered for a PhD may be considered.
Registered with a relevant professional body as required by the field of specialization.
