Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) is a Public University focusing on Technology, established under the University’s Act 2012. The University is seeking a Lecturer in Human Anatomy for its BSc. Nursing Program (Grade 12, Ref: DeKUT/NUR/L/2026).
Role Overview
The Lecturer will be responsible for academic instruction within the Human Anatomy department, specifically supporting the nursing curriculum. This includes teaching, research, and technical oversight of anatomy laboratories.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver university-level lectures in Human Anatomy to students in the BSc. Nursing program.
Conduct research and contribute to scholarly publications in reputable journals.
Oversee practical sessions, including cadaveric dissection and histology slide preparation.
Utilize digital anatomy tools and modern pedagogical techniques for curriculum delivery.
Provide mentorship and academic guidance to students.
Participate in curriculum development and university committees.
Requirements and Qualifications
Academic Credentials: A PhD in Human Anatomy or a closely related field from an accredited and recognized university. Candidates with a Master’s degree and significant progress towards a PhD will also be considered.
Alternative Credentials: Candidates with a Master of Medicine (MMed) in General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, or an equivalent specialty, alongside a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree.
Teaching Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of university-level teaching experience.
Research and Publications: At least two (2) publications in refereed, reputable journals.
Professional Registration: Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) or another relevant professional body.
Additional Skills (Added Advantage): Practical skills in cadaveric dissection, histology slide preparation, digital anatomy tools, curriculum development, and student mentorship.
