The United States International University - Africa (USIU-Africa) is seeking a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics to join the School of Science and Technology (SST). The successful candidate will report to the Dean and will be responsible for teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting original research, and participating in service activities for the university and the community. This role requires a commitment to academic excellence, student mentorship, and continuous curriculum improvement to ensure programs remain marketable and up-to-date.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels in Applied Mathematics and related specializations.
Support and mentor students in their academic progress and career development.
Actively participate in curriculum development and revision to maintain program relevance.
Contribute to program assessment and institutional review processes.
Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Conduct and publish research in one’s area of expertise.
Engage in service to the University, the profession, and the broader community.
Perform other academic and administrative duties as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet either of the following criteria sets:
Option 1:
An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in Applied Mathematics or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
Must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the relevant professional body.
Option 2:
A Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics or related areas from an accredited university.
A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience or industrial experience in the relevant sector.
A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points according to CUE Standards & Guidelines (2014), with at least sixteen (16) points derived from refereed scholarly journal papers.
Must be officially registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent doctoral degree.
Must be registered with the relevant professional body.
