Role Overview
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) is seeking qualified Part-time Lecturers in the field of History. The role involves teaching, evaluating, and mentoring undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching: Instruct undergraduate and/or postgraduate students in the field of History.
Preparation: Design and prepare learning and teaching materials to enable better delivery of content and achievement of the course objectives.
Instruction: Deliver course content to students through lectures, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals.
Evaluation: Assess and evaluate delivery models, making appropriate improvements to guarantee quality teaching and learning. Set, moderate, invigilate, and mark examinations.
Curriculum Interpretation: Interpret curriculum to synthesize and effectively disseminate content to learners.
Needs Assessment: Conduct needs assessments for curriculum, identifying content gaps to ensure graduates are competent.
Requirements
Applicants should hold a PhD or a master's degree qualification in History from a recognized academic institution, with extensive teaching or industry experience at undergraduate/postgraduate levels.
Served as a Lecturer or equivalent in a university recognized by the JOOUST Senate.
Demonstrate potential for university teaching and/or research.
At least two (2) years of university-level teaching experience.
Master's degree holders registered for a PhD may be considered.
Registered with the relevant professional body as required by the field of specialization.
