The University of Embu (UoEm) is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced academic for the position of Lecturer in Civil Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic leadership, delivering high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and contributing to the university's research output and community service initiatives.
Role Overview
As a Lecturer, you will play a critical role in the Department of Engineering, engaging in curriculum development, student mentorship, and scholarly research. The university prioritizes individuals who are actively contributing to their field through continued research and participation in learned academic forums.
Responsibilities
Deliver lectures and facilitate student learning in Civil Engineering and related subject areas.
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research and projects.
Conduct original research and publish findings in reputable, refereed journals.
Participate in the development and review of academic programs to ensure they meet industry standards.
Attend and contribute to learned conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Contribute to the university's mission through committee participation and community engagement.
Qualifications and Requirements
Must be a holder of an earned PhD degree from a recognized university in Civil Engineering or a relevant area of specialty.
Must have a Master’s degree in addition to a first (Bachelor's) degree from a recognized university in the relevant field.
Demonstrate evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars, or workshops.
Provide evidence of continued research activities.
Previous university teaching experience is highly desirable.
A record of publications in refereed journals is an added advantage.
