The University of Embu (UoEm) is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Lecturer in Actuarial Science. This role involves academic teaching, research, and contribution to the scholarly community. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality instruction to students, engage in ongoing research activities, and represent the university at academic forums. The University of Embu (UoEm) was established as a Constituent College of the University of Nairobi in 2011 and is committed to excellence in research and consultancy services.
Responsibilities
Deliver lectures and facilitate learning in the field of Actuarial Science at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Conduct and maintain active research in relevant specialty areas.
Participate in and contribute to learned conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Publish research findings in refereed journals.
Provide academic mentorship and guidance to students.
Contribute to curriculum development and departmental academic activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a holder of an earned PhD degree from a recognized university in the relevant area of specialty (Actuarial Science).
Must have a Master’s degree in addition to a first degree from a recognized university in the relevant field.
Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars, or workshops.
Show evidence of continued research.
University teaching experience is considered an added advantage.
Publication in refereed journals is considered an added advantage.
