Job Description
Role Overview
The Lead for Training, Channel Enablement, Product Development & Partnerships (TCHAP) is responsible for driving growth in APA’s inclusive insurance sector. The role focuses on co-designing products for climate, health, and livelihood risks, building the capacity of diverse distribution channels, and managing strategic partnerships and donor engagements to meet ambitious growth and policy targets.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development and Innovation
Co-design inclusive insurance products addressing climate, health, and livelihood risks.
Translate client insights, field feedback, and behavioral data into product features and training content.
Collaborate with actuarial, data, and operations teams to ensure product viability and rollout readiness.
Channel Enablement and Training
Lead onboarding and capacity-building for distribution channels including SACCOs, cooperatives, faith-based groups, agri-value chains, and digital platforms.
Develop and deploy scalable training frameworks for Smart Mobilizers, partner staff, and Business Development (BD) teams.
Monitor channel performance and training impact to optimize reach, retention, and revenue.
Partnerships and Donor Engagement
Support cultivation of donor, foundation, and aggregator relationships.
Contribute to proposal development, concept notes, and donor reporting.
Represent APA Micro-insurance in sector forums, showcasing training and channel innovations.
Operational Leadership and Coordination
Ensure operational readiness for product launches and channel activations.
Track KPIs across training, channel performance, and partnership outcomes.
Contribute to quarterly planning, budgeting, and reporting aligned with APA’s Gross Written Premium (GWP) and policy targets.
Performance Targets
Support rollout of 3+ inclusive insurance products by Q4 2026.
Train and onboard 100+ Smart Mobilizers and partner staff.
Contribute to donor-funded pilots generating Kenya Shillings 150M+ in GWP by end of 2026.
Strengthen channel retention and client satisfaction metrics across APA’s footprint.
Academic Qualifications
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in insurance, Agricultural Economics, Development Finance, or related field.

Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work across functions and geographies with agility and purpose.
Proven experience in training design, channel development, and partnership management.
Familiarity with donor-funded programs, social enterprises, or insurtechs is a strong advantage.
