The Land Surveyor at Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is responsible for the implementation of all land survey and mapping matters for various projects undertaken by the Authority. This role is crucial for the protection of the Authority’s land assets through cadastral (title) survey and involves significant field and office work to ensure accurate infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities
Survey Field Assignments: Mapping and establishing survey controls for project sites.
Survey Types: Undertaking small and medium area cadastral, topographical surveys, sub-divisional schemes, site, and general engineering surveys.
Quality Control: Conducting preliminary quality control for cadastral and general boundary surveys.
Data Management: Searching for and compiling required survey data from relevant government institutions.
Field Observations: Using various survey equipment including Automatic levels, Total Stations, and Global Positioning System (GPS).
Data Processing: Processing field survey data to create detailed maps, plans, and drawings.
Reporting: Preparing field survey reports and ensuring the maintenance of survey instruments.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying and Photogrammetry, Geomatics, Geo-spatial Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Graduate membership with the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK), specifically in the Land Surveyors or Engineering Surveyors Chapter.
A valid Practicing Certificate from the Lands Surveyor’s Board (LSB) of Kenya.
A letter of good standing from the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya.
Proficiency in computer applications relevant to surveying.
