Job Description
Plainsview Hospital is looking for a Laboratory Technologist to join our team. Located in Ruiru town, Kiambu County, Plainsview is one of the largest nursing homes in the region, serving the community since 1999.
Role Summary
The Laboratory Technologist will perform accurate laboratory testing and analysis of patient specimens to support the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases. You will ensure strict quality control, adherence to laboratory protocols, and provide timely, reliable results for clinical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results.
Implement and monitor quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) systems in laboratory practice.
Analyze and document laboratory results, ensuring they are consistent and reliable for clinical staff.
Adhere to health and safety protocols, including proper biohazard handling.
Maintain organized records of all tests and laboratory activities.
Work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, to support hospital operations.
Requirements and Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science.
Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
Possession of a valid Practicing License.
A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Proficiency in routine laboratory procedures with strong knowledge of quality control and assurance systems.
Flexibility to work in a shift-based environment (nights and weekends).
