The Water Resources Authority (WRA) is the lead agency in Kenya responsible for regulating, managing, and equitably allocating national water resources. This is an entry-level training grade for the Laboratory Technician cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Role Purpose
The Laboratory Technician III is responsible for undertaking surface and ground water quality and pollution assessment and monitoring through field and bench laboratory analyses. The role involves providing advice on the suitability of water for various uses and implementing measures to protect water resources from pollution.
Key Responsibilities
Water Quality Assessment: Undertake surface and ground water quality and pollution monitoring through field and bench laboratory analyses.
Technical Support: Advise on the suitability of water for various uses based on analysis results.
Resource Protection: Implement integrated measures to protect water resources from pollution.
Maintenance: Ensure the cleaning and safe keeping of laboratory appliances, including glassware and protective gear.
Waste Management: Empty water sample containers after analysis confirmation and ensure safe containment of containers awaiting recycling or disposal.
Operational Standards: Maintain general cleanliness and orderliness within the laboratory settings.
Qualifications and Experience
Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Water Laboratory Technology, Science Laboratory Technology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Terms of Service and Remuneration
Probation: Successful candidates will serve for a probationary period of six (6) months.
Contract: Upon successful completion of probation, the role converts to Permanent and Pensionable Terms of Service.
Remuneration: Subject to existing terms approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
