Job Description
Role Overview
The Kitchen Steward plays a vital role in the hospitality team by maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas. The primary objective is to ensure all kitchenware is sanitized and ready for use while upholding strict health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Sanitization: Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using standard industrial dishwashers or by hand, ensuring they are sanitized and ready for use.
Facility Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and food preparation areas by regularly cleaning floors, countertops, equipment, and other surfaces.
Waste Management: Properly dispose of food waste, recycling materials, and other refuse while ensuring trash bins are emptied regularly.
Inventory Control: Assist in organizing and maintaining inventory of kitchen supplies and materials and informing management when stock levels are low.
Equipment Care: Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment and appliances, reporting any malfunctions to the kitchen manager or chef.
Kitchen Support: Support cooking staff and other kitchen personnel with tasks such as cutting vegetables and gathering supplies to help facilitate meal preparation.
Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and protocols, including proper handling of food and cleaning chemicals.
Requirements & Qualifications
Must possess a KCSE Certificate or equivalent qualification.
Requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role.
Must have a solid knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Proficient in the handling and operation of standard kitchen equipment.
Must provide a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Added Advantage: A Certificate in hospitality management and food production is considered an added advantage.
