Job Description
Fireside Engineering Group is seeking a dedicated ISP Technician to join our team in Mombasa. The role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic network systems. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction while working within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Technicians will collaborate with a team of other technicians and Network Operations Center (NOC) personnel under the guidance of field supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
Installing and terminating fiber optic cables and other network equipment.
Resolving Loss of Service (LoS) and connection issues within the specified SLA.
Ensuring technical support tickets are updated accurately and closed with clear resolutions once resolved.
Adhering to Health & Safety guidelines and ensuring quality assurance throughout the implementation and maintenance cycles.
Educating clients on basic troubleshooting processes and addressing fiber optic related inquiries.
Performing fiber link faulting and troubleshooting/testing fiber links using specialized tools like light sources, optical power meters, and OTDRs.
Splicing fiber optics at various fiber distribution hubs.
Providing real-time updates on fiber faults to NOC personnel.
Performing any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Certificate in Fiber Optics or a related technical field.
At least 1 year of experience in a similar role within the telecommunications or ISP sector.
A basic understanding of fiber network concepts.
Practical proficiency in fiber handling and maintenance.
Strong problem-solving skills and technical troubleshooting expertise.
