Job Description
The African Development Bank (AfDB) is inviting applications for Session 2 of its 2026 Internship Program. This specific track focuses on Governance, Natural Resource and Knowledge Management. The program provides students with an opportunity to acquire professional and practical experience at the Bank and provides the Bank with a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment.
Role Purpose
The internship aims to integrate interns into the Bank’s operations, allowing them to contribute to Africa’s transformation, inclusive growth, and the transition to green growth. Interns will be assigned to units where they can apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in tasks related to governance frameworks, natural resource management strategies, or knowledge dissemination within the Bank.
Support project teams in research, data collection, and analysis.
Participate in meetings and contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations.
Utilize standard software packages and SAP (where applicable) for operational support.
Work either remotely or on-site as determined by the hiring unit.
Terms and Conditions
Duration: 3 to 6 months (authorized only once per candidate).
Commencement: July 2026.
Modality: Remote or On-site. Remote interns must have their own PC and reliable internet. On-site interns are responsible for their own travel and upkeep.
Stipend: Eligible interns will receive a monthly stipend.
Insurance: The Bank provides medical insurance coverage during the internship period.
Visa Support: The Bank assists in obtaining entry and residence visas where necessary.
Eligibility Criteria
Age: Must be at least the age of majority in their country and no older than 30 years at the start of the internship.
Education: Must be currently enrolled in a Master's level degree program at a recognized institution, or have graduated with a Master's degree within the last one (1) year.
Nationality: Must be a national of a member country of the African Development Bank.
Languages: Proficiency in either English or French (at least one).
Technical Skills: Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); knowledge of SAP is a plus.
