The African Development Bank (AfDB) is inviting applications for Session 2 of the 2026 Internship Program, specifically within the Capacity Development field. The program aims to provide students with professional and practical experience while supporting the Bank's mission to improve the quality of Africa's growth and promote inclusive, green transitions. The internship for this session is scheduled to commence in July 2026.
Objectives of the Program
Provide students with an opportunity to acquire professional and practical experience at the African Development Bank.
Provide the Bank with a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment purposes (though the internship does not guarantee immediate employment).
Duties and Responsibilities
Interns will be assigned to specific hiring units where they will support the Bank's operations. While specific tasks depend on the unit, responsibilities typically include:
Assisting in research and data management related to capacity development and regional growth.
Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
Contributing to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and administrative tasks.
Collaborating with teams on projects aligned with the Bank's 'High 5' priorities.
Terms and Conditions
Duration: 3 to 6 months. Authorized only once per candidate.
Modality: Can be performed remotely or on-site. Remote interns must have their own computer and reliable internet. On-site interns are responsible for travel and upkeep.
Benefits: Eligible interns receive a monthly stipend and medical insurance coverage provided by the Bank.
Visas: The Bank assists in obtaining entry and residence visas for on-site interns.
Eligibility Criteria
Age: 18 to 30 years old at the time of commencement.
Education: Currently enrolled in a Master’s level degree program or have graduated with a Master's degree within the last year from a recognized institution.
Nationality: Must be a national of a member country of the African Development Bank.
Languages: Fluent in English or French (the Bank's working languages).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Knowledge of SAP is desirable.
