Job Description
Kenya Development Corporation Ltd (KDC) is a Development Finance Institution established to merge the operations of several Kenyan financial entities. The Information Communication Technology Officer (Network & Cybersecurity) plays a vital role in implementing, maintaining, and securing the Corporation's ICT infrastructure. This role focuses on managing network operations, ensuring system availability, and safeguarding the organization against cybersecurity threats. The officer is responsible for hardware and software configurations, managing user access via Active Directory, and providing technical support and training to staff members.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement an effective Quality Management System (QMS) within the department.
Draft and implement ICT maintenance schedules and risk registers for the section.
Support the installation, configuration, and certification of new or upgraded ICT systems and equipment.
Monitor network traffic and report on ICT equipment performance to ensure adequate speed and capacity.
Draft and manage data backup schedules to ensure business continuity through regular data and application backups.
Update and maintain the KDC corporate database and website.
Implement ICT work plans, procurement plans, and budgets for the section.
Draft and submit hardware and software specifications for the procurement of ICT goods and services.
Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software systems, and telephone lines/extensions.
Manage local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), telecommunication facilities, and the Active Directory/e-mail system.
Maintain an up-to-date ICT equipment register and issuance register.
Implement and monitor firewall policies and rules to protect the network.
Control and monitor access to the network and server rooms.
Troubleshoot reported system problems and provide end-user support and training on ICT facilities.
Assist in raising staff awareness regarding technological changes and emerging cybersecurity risks.
Develop documentation for computer programs according to instructions and specifications.
Person Specification and Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business IT, Software Engineering, ICT Project Management, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Experience: Cumulative service period of six (6) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in the grade of ICT Officer I or a comparable position.
Professional Certification: At least one (1) certification from relevant professional bodies such as CCNP, CDCP, CCNA Cloud, CCNA Industrial/IoT, CCNA, MCSE, MCSA, MCSD, N+, A+ OCA, CISSP, Linux+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), CISA, CISM, or CGEIT.
Professional Membership: Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing (where applicable).
Performance: Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance results.
