The Aga Khan Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated IB Teacher of MYP Humanities and DP Geography. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to their subject area, motivating and encouraging students to achieve their full personal potential within the International Baccalaureate framework. The role involves creating a safe, engaging, and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Subject Passion: Demonstrate a passion for Humanities and Geography that serves to motivate and encourage students to attain their personal best.
Learning Design: Design engaging learning and assessment activities that develop deep understanding and critical thinking.
Safe Environment: Support students to be confident thinkers in a safe learning environment.
Collaborative Planning: Plan collaboratively with colleagues to design units that effectively deliver the IB programmes.
Student Monitoring: Monitor and track student progress regularly.
Supervision: Act as a Personal Project (MYP) and Extended Essay (DP) supervisor.
Pastoral Care: Act as a form tutor/mentor to guide and support a small group of students.
Extra-Curricular Contribution: Contribute to the development of enrichment, co-curricular, and experiential activities.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
Professional Qualification: Must have an internationally recognized teaching qualification or a B.Ed/M.Ed.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience teaching in the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
Motivation: Proven ability to inspire and motivate students to gain a deeper appreciation for the subject.
