Human Resource Manager

Key Duties & Responsibilities

HR Operations & Compliance

• Oversee end-to-end HR operations across all sites, including contracts, onboarding/offboarding, records, and leave management.
• Ensure statutory and policy compliance.
• Develop and improve HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workflows.
• Maintain strong documentation and audit trails.

Employee & Industrial Relations

• Manage employee relations and industrial relations matters.
• Provide guidance to managers on labour laws and best practices.
• Drive grievance resolution and support legal/compliance processes when disputes escalate.
• Proactively advise leadership on legislative changes.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead and coordinate a geographically distributed HR team.
• Set priorities and monitor service delivery standards.
• Coach and develop HR staff while ensuring accountability and consistent execution across sites.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

• Provide structured HR operational updates to the Director.
• Partner with departmental heads to address workforce needs.
• Oversee onboarding programs.
• Prepare HR operational reports covering headcount, turnover, absenteeism, disciplinary trends, and compliance.
• Use HR data to identify risks and recommend strategic interventions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field (a Master’s degree is an added advantage).
• Mandatory IHRM membership.
• 6–8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a management role.
• Experience managing HR operations in a large-scale, multi-site/manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Proven experience managing a distributed HR team.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and OSHA compliance.
• Experience working with external HR consultants and service providers.
