Job Description
We are hiring a professional Housekeeper with cooking and cleaning duties for a multi-generational residence in Gigiri, Nairobi. This is a live-in position that involves working across two separate houses on the same plot. The ideal candidate must be professional, well-trained, and capable of maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organization. We are looking for an individual who can become a long-term part of the family.
Role Overview
The core role involves operating on a rota across two houses with the following primary focuses:
Cleaning: Comprehensive house cleaning and maintenance with a strong focus on detail, care, and consistency.
Cooking: Meal preparation and high-quality cooking.
Key Responsibilities
Cooking and preparing food as required for the household.
Daily cleaning and maintenance of assigned residential areas.
Performing deep cleaning tasks on a scheduled basis.
Managing laundry: washing, ironing, folding, and ensuring proper fabric care.
Dusting and caring for furniture, surfaces, and delicate items.
Ensuring the careful handling of valuable household items.
Cleaning and maintenance of household equipment and machinery.
Maintaining order, neatness, and organization throughout the entire home.
Feeding and looking after two friendly dogs when the owners are away.
Managing schedules and tasks effectively while switching between the two houses.
Requirements
Formal training in housekeeping or hospitality.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a private home, embassy, or hotel environment.
Must possess a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
High attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
Professional attitude with the ability to follow structured routines.
Honest, responsible, and respectful demeanor.
Ability to handle valuable items with extreme care.
Capability to work in a structured household environment with clear routines.
High level of personal cleanliness and professional presentation.
Verifiable reference from at least one previous employer is mandatory.
Desired Attributes
A genuine love of cooking and a desire to attend further cooking courses.
A love for dogs (comfortable with them sleeping in your room when owners are away).
Experience with children is considered a plus.
