Role Overview
This role is intended to recruit qualified HGV drivers who will solely be deployed for night shunting operations at the DHL client (KBL) site. Responsibilities include safe, efficient, and timely loading of products at the KBL site, timely docking of trucks at the loading bay, and shunting loaded trucks to Kasarani using heavy goods commercial motor vehicles while meeting company, client, customer, and legislative requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure timely vehicle turn around / loading time to be within set KPIs.
Responsible for vehicle safety and standard quality requirements, including all legal requirements by law.
Ensure that the vehicle in use is in good condition for delivery and any anomaly is reported in good time for corrective measures.
Drive DHL company vehicles within approved routes, practicing patience with other road users in a manner that upholds DHL values.
Ensure familiarity with standard operating procedures for loading and offloading at the client site, including ensuring all related documentation is duly filled, signed, and returned to appropriate offices.
Exercise care and caution, adhering to traffic laws and regulations while handling the DHL fleet on the road and at customer sites.
Timely reporting of all potential risks, near misses, breakdowns, and accidents to immediate supervisors.
Complete routine vehicle checks and ensure the vehicle achieves the set target of fuel consumption (Km/L).
Caution and safety on the road is to be exercised at all times and adhere to the working time directive.
Represent DSC in a professional manner to customers.
Adhere to all DSC Health and Safety rules and regulations as well as those of clients.
Adhere to document and process flow requirements for truck entry, loading, and exiting customer sites.
Adhere to all DCT requirements and log all trips on Tramm Mobile.
Timely exit loaded trucks to Kasarani as directed by executors to efficiently manage TAT.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
O level school certificate (KCSE)
Valid HGV Driving license
Minimum 3 years driving experience
Flexibility to work shift patterns and odd days
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
Spoken and written proficiency in English and Kiswahili
Certificate in Mechanics is an added advantage
