Pembroke House is a unique British boarding school in the heart of Kenya. We are a small, multicultural school of around 200 pupils, and cater for boys and girls aged 2 - 13 years. We have a 90-year history of private education in East Africa, and our focus is on developing well-rounded, happy, independent, polite and confident pupils.
The Role
We are looking to appoint a Headteacher who will build on Pembroke House’s long‑established reputation for academic ambition, pastoral excellence, and all‑round education. The successful candidate will lead with clarity, warmth, and purpose, inspiring pupils and staff alike while strengthening the school’s strategic direction in partnership with the Pembroke House Council (the Board of Governors).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Strengthen the school’s strategic direction in partnership with the Pembroke House Council.
Inspirational Leadership: Lead with clarity, warmth, and purpose, inspiring pupils and staff alike.
Pastoral and Academic Excellence: Build on long‑established reputations for academic ambition and pastoral excellence.
Ethos Advocacy: Champion the school’s boarding ethos and vibrant extra‑curricular life, ensuring that every child is known, challenged, and supported.
Values Modeling: Uphold and model the school’s values of curiosity, courage, spirit of adventure, compassion, resilience, and integrity.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A BA/BSc/HND degree is required.
Experience: Applications are welcome from current Headteachers as well as senior leaders seeking their first headship.
Background: Proven track record in academic and pastoral leadership.
