The Aga Khan Academy is seeking a passionate IB Head of Department - Mathematics to lead their team of educators. This role involves providing pedagogical leadership and managing the departmental unit across the Senior School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). The successful candidate will act as an exemplary role model in teaching, professional development, and administrative oversight.
Responsibilities
Exercise leadership in subject teaching, professionalism, and departmental administration.
Develop and implement departmental goals aligned with school-wide objectives and IB assessment requirements.
Foster sound and shared pedagogy among department members.
Create professional development plans and participate in faculty appraisals.
Lead curriculum development for Senior School programmes (MYP and DP).
Establish assessment procedures and manage the annual departmental budget.
Collaborate with other Heads of Department to lead the curriculum team.
Facilitate year-level and general collaboration within the department.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree with a teaching qualification from a recognized university.
A minimum of 5 years of experience teaching at the IB MYP or DP level.
Mandatory registration with the Kenya Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Proven ability to organize and lead departmental meetings.
A demonstrated interest in reflective practice and interdisciplinary connections.
Strong skills in faculty supervision and mentoring.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with students, parents, and staff.
