Job Purpose
The Head of IT Business Relationship Engagement (Deputy Director) is responsible for providing overall guidance, strategic direction, and advice on the architectural design of new and existing systems to support the organization's business IT solutions. This role acts as a primary contact point to ensure business goals are achieved through technology deployment, defining and managing the relationship between IT and other business units to ensure optimal support for delivery of business goals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to the Financial Stability, Enterprise Applications, Core Banking, Payment Systems, and Business Intelligence teams.
- Develop and maintain the IT Business Relationship Engagement (BRE) strategy and related processes.
- Responsible for Business-to-IT strategic planning, budget management, vendor management, and resource management.
- Drive change through the strategic use of data, managing the strategy and execution of the Business Intelligence & Analytics team.
- Oversee functional organization design and staff resourcing.
Technical and Operational Responsibilities
- Manage all business applications including Core Banking, Payment Systems (RTGS, SWIFT), ERP, Business Intelligence & Analytics Platform, and Financial Stability Reporting Platform.
- Identify opportunities for automation and streamline business processes, specifically designing and driving the Data Analytics Strategy.
- Lead major IT Business Application Change projects aligned with business goals.
- Review technical designs to validate technology use and ensure system consolidation remains manageable and cost-effective.
- Establish departmental operating procedures around governance, software lifecycle management, change management, and application security.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and service delivery units to ensure reliable business continuity practices (BCP).
- Ensure recruitment, development, and retention of a high-performing team.
Qualifications and Experience
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Operations, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Master’s Degree in ICT, Information Systems, or Business Administration is an added advantage.
- Professional IT certifications such as ITIL Service Management, ISO Lead Implementer, COBIT, CISA, CISM, CRISC, or CGEIT (Added advantage).
- Project Management certifications such as Prince 2, MSP, or TOGAF (Added advantage).
Work Experience
- At least twelve (12) years’ experience in a large IT environment.
- Minimum of five (5) years in a senior leadership position with involvement in core banking/payment systems/ERP implementation.
- Minimum of five (5) years focused Business Engagement & Analysis experience.
- Strong knowledge in the payments ecosystem (CSD, RTGS, SWIFT, T24, ERP, and Data Warehouse systems).
