The Head of Custody Services is responsible for leading the business unit, developing and executing strategic initiatives to achieve target profitability, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality service standards. This leadership role involves managing complex relationships with fund managers, brokers, regulators, and other stakeholders while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory and internal risk management frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Growth: Develop and execute the business strategy to achieve unit targets and profitability. Drive market share growth while retaining the existing client base.
- Relationship Management: Strengthen partnerships with customers, fund managers, brokers, regulators, administrators, and other stakeholders.
- Service Delivery: Ensure seamless customer service by maintaining high service standards.
- Risk & Compliance: Enforce robust risk excellence and compliance requirements across regulatory, audit, and internal controls. Ensure compliance with RBA, CMA, CBK, and CDSC regulations.
- Business Development: Develop and lead KCB’s Facility agency business regarding loan syndications, bond issues, and related capital markets transactions in line with international industry standards.
- Leadership: Lead, direct, and develop a highly performing and motivated team.
- Finance: Oversee budget control and effective cost management.
Daily Responsibilities
- Oversee adherence to high operational standards and procedures.
- Ensure all regulatory returns are accurately compiled and submitted within the stipulated timelines.
- Ensure investment transactions are processed within the market timelines and SLAs.
- Oversee the preparation of reports to custody services clients within the stipulated timelines.
- Ensure appropriate representation and participation of KCB in Client Board Meetings and Annual General Meetings.
- Provide guidance on best practices to the Custody Services Units in the Subsidiaries.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
- Professional qualification: CISI (Completed Level 3).
- Trustee Development Program of Kenya (TDPK) certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Banking Operations and Banking Operating Systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Capital & Money Markets instruments and transactions.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Managing teams.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience/knowledge of the Custody environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Relationship Management.
