Head, Asset Based Finance & Insurance Premium Financing
About the Role
The Head of Asset Based Finance (ABF) & Insurance Premium Financing (IPF) is responsible for developing and leading the implementation of the ABF & IPF sector strategy in line with the overall Corporate Banking Strategy of KCB Bank Kenya. This position entails defining market growth strategies, creating customized product solutions, leading business development efforts, managing credit risk, and ensuring overall department profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Market Growth: Develop and lead the implementation of the ABF & IPF sector strategy. Understand the market size, growth opportunities, market shares, customer profiles, and competitor trends to formulate and deliver budgets and growth targets.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Build and maintain effective relationships across Corporate Banking Sector Heads, Product Management, Regional Managers, Credit, Legal, Risk, and Operations teams.
Technical Sales Support: Provide high-level technical ABF/IPF assistance to Relationship Managers to help close large, complex, and structured transactions.
Digitalization & Product Development: Support the modernization and digitalization of the bank's ABF/IPF systems. Design, package, and customize differentiated product offerings to make them easy to sell and appealing to customers.
Risk & Impairment Management: Manage robust monitoring, internal controls, business continuity, governance, and risk management environments. Proactively manage credit impairments according to accounting and regulatory standards.
People Leadership: Direct, lead, and develop the ABF/IPF team to achieve both financial and non-financial performance benchmarks.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A University Degree from a recognized institution.
Overall Experience: Minimum of 8 years' experience working in a financial institution.
Management Experience: At least 5 years of senior management experience in Corporate Banking specifically handling Asset Based Finance, Insurance Premium Financing, and Structured Finance.
Credit Experience: At least 5 years of experience in Credit Management and Recovery.
Leadership Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience leading and managing teams.
Commercial Savvy: Proven track record of achieving business growth and profitability targets within the financial services sector.
Industry Knowledge: Deep appreciation of banking industry trends, regulations, challenges, and statutory corporate governance requirements.
