Group Legal Counsel

You will be part of the Customer Unit East & North Africa legal team, reporting to the Head of Legal, Customer Unit East & North Africa. The position will be based within one of the territories in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Advisory: Act as a trusted legal advisor, providing practical and strategic guidance that supports business objectives and successful deal execution.
• Negotiation & Drafting: Lead and support negotiations for complex customer, supplier, and partnership agreements.
• Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and business risks while enabling growth and transformation.
• Regulatory Compliance: Advise on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, competition, data protection, intellectual property, and trade control matters.
• Collaboration: Build strong relationships across business units, functions, and geographies, fostering collaboration and transparency.
• Capability Building: Contribute to capability building through coaching, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and best-practice initiatives.
• Culture: Support an inclusive, high-performing, and collaborative team culture.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: Qualified lawyer with a BA/BSc/HND degree in Law or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in a leading law firm and/or multinational in-house legal environment.
• Strong experience in commercial, corporate, regulatory, and compliance matters.
• Proven ability to support complex contracts, negotiations, and cross-border business activities.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and influence senior stakeholders across diverse environments.
• Experience in the technology or telecommunications sector is an advantage.
