The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a Global Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL) Coordinator to join the global MEAL Team at HQ. The team oversees the MEAL function within DRC, setting standards, ensuring quality, and providing support across all aspects of MEAL in countries. The coordinator will drive important global processes, including commitment to the Core Humanitarian Standard, Evaluations and Research, and DRC’s Information Management System approaches.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Principal MEAL Advisor: Serve as the principal advisor for all countries within the designated region.
- Standard Translation: Ensure the translation of global MEAL standards, practices, and policies to geographical and country contexts.
- Resourcing and Recruitment: Support appropriate resourcing for MEAL in countries and participate in recruitments for the most senior MEAL posts.
- IM Systems Rollout: Support the rollout of global Information Management (IM) systems in countries.
- Technical Support: Provide technical guidance to countries on all aspects of MEAL as needed.
- Knowledge Management: Foster knowledge exchange and learning across functions and geographical areas as part of the global team.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience within the field of MEAL.
- Experience working with International NGOs, UN agencies, line ministries and/or local authorities in displacement settings including complex emergencies.
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Sciences, International Development, Statistics).
Desirable
- Experience working with or providing support to partners and/or a partnership model of working.
- Demonstrable experience in the nurturing of organizational learning in programs.
- Proven facilitation and training skills with diverse audiences of NGO practitioners.
- Proven understanding of the management of knowledge within NGOs or development organizations and an ability to link this to system development.
- Proven understanding of research methodologies and the nature of evidence for influencing key decision makers.
- Experience in participatory assessment and community-based monitoring approaches.
- Clear understanding of Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).
- Experience with capacity building of staff and in convening and facilitating trainings and workshops.
